How the list is built

The NPPES public register is the source for every row here. This federal list covers US healthcare providers along with their NPI numbers. We build city lists from it in this way.

Who appears on the list?

An organisation appears on the list if its NPPES record includes a code for behavior analysis (analyst, assistant analyst or technician), or if it is an ABA chain that we track. Its practice address must be within our 10 covered cities. Every location has its own row. A chain with five clinics therefore appears five times.

The autism evaluation lists draw on taxonomy codes for neurodevelopmental disabilities, clinical neuropsychology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics.

At present, our totals show 2,945 ABA providers, along with 1,018 evaluators.

Staff counts and how they work

For the count, we include individual analysts, assistant analysts and technicians whose NPPES street address and ZIP code match the provider's. Since many technicians never register, our count is usually lower than the actual team size.

When multiple companies sit at one address, for example an office suite, we can't tell which company each staff member belongs to. Because of that, we display no count.

Details we don't show and the reasons

Insurance, ages served, waitlists and quality aren't recorded in NPPES, so we don't guess them. We link each fact to the state agency or to the insurer's own document. Those sources cover Medicaid rules, plus rates and insurance policies.

Providers never pay for inclusion or a higher position. We order each list by the amount of information the register gives about a provider, then by name.
